Global Focus from Perth

Global Technology Centre

The Perth Global Technology Centre (GTC) was established in 2007 to align with Chevron's long-term energy growth strategy. The GTC develops technological capability in Australia and our Asia-Pacific operation and provides a hub of technical excellence close to our Western Australian operations.

It is one of only two such facilities in the company, with the other located in Aberdeen, Scotland. Perth was selected as the location of the GTC, due to its source of talented regional technology experts, proximity to our interests in the region and growth opportunities to pursue research and development alliances with universities and industry partners.

The GTC has a talented workforce of earth scientists, facilities engineers and petroleum engineers to help solve the technical challenges of finding and producing new energy reserves safely and economically, while protecting the environment and supporting those communities in which Chevron operates.

The Perth GTC works on a variety of research projects with universities and research institutions to test and develop new technology. One such project is using Wave Gliders to monitor real-time water data for the Wheatstone Project.

Through its global network and partnership capabilities, the GTC provides targeted support in the following areas:

  • Process, Analytical and Catalysis
  • Earth Sciences
  • Technical Computing
  • Reservoir and Production Engineering
  • Health Environment and Safety
  • Facilities Engineering
  • Drilling and Completion

The GTC also develops alliances with universities and industry research partners to enable innovation and new technology deployments.
