Our Safety Culture
Safety is our fundamental core value that we will not compromise. There is nothing more important. We are committed to developing a workplace that is incident and injury free, working together to send our employees and contractors home safe from work every day.
We reinforce our safety culture through:
- Visible safety leadership across the business
- A commitment to behavioural-based safety observations through our Observing Safety Protects Resources, Environment and You (OSPREY) program
- Successful strain and sprain management
- Dedicating resources to high priority processes including: Managing Safe Work; Risk Management; Contractor, Health, Environment, and Safety Management; Compliance Assurance; and Fitness for Duty.
Promoting A Healthy Workforce
We are committed to investing in the health of our employees. This optimises the physical and psychological wellbeing of our employees - as well as improving productivity and wellbeing at work.
The Australian HR Institute (AHRI) recently announced Chevron Australia as the winner of the 2017 Allan Fels AO Mental Health in the Workplace Award. The award recognised Chevron for the work that has been done to improve understanding, awareness and the general mental health of the workforce and wider community.

Healthy Workplace Acknowledgement
We have officially been acknowledged as a Recognised Healthy Workplace and given the highest possible Gold Standard - for our demonstrated commitment to workplace health and wellbeing.
The recognition was made by Healthier Workplace WA - an initiative jointly funded by the State and Federal governments and delivered by the National Heart Foundation (WA) in conjunction with the Cancer Council of WA and the University of Western Australia.
The award acknowledges our commitment to health and wellness as well as the comprehensive range of programs we offer our employees in Perth and on-site. Such initiatives include health and dietary workshops as well as cardiovascular, mental wellbeing, skin checks and flu vaccination programs and policies addressing healthy catering, ergonomics and fitness for duty.

Partnering With Contractors
The health and safety of our workforce and contractors is paramount, which is why health, environment and safety (HES) are at the forefront of all our project development plans. Our HES specialists work closely with project teams and key contractors to promote a healthy workforce and an incident free workplace.
The annual Chief Executive Officer safety leadership forum in Perth and on Barrow Island targets key project contractors and reinforces the importance of a partnership approach to promoting health and safety within the workforce.
