For the past 14 years, Chevron Australia has supported the Chevron Focus Environment photography and caption competition as a way to continue to build community awareness and support for conservation and environmental stewardship.
More than 1,200 photographs showcasing Western Australia’s biodiversity were submitted by WA school students from kindergarten to year 12 in this year’s competition.
A highlight of the competition is the prestigious Harry Butler Award, presented to one finalist every year in memory of the eminent conservationist and his dedication to raising awareness about natural history and environmental conservation.
Judges were impressed by the standard of entries this year, which reflect Chevron’s core values of protecting people and the environment:
- WA’s native species
- WA’s habitats and ecosystems
- Sustainability in WA
The competition, which is open to all primary and secondary school students in Western Australia will open again in May 2018.
