Chevron Focus Environment

For the past 14 years, Chevron Australia has supported the Chevron Focus Environment photography and caption competition as a way of educating students about the environment and the need to protect it for future  generations.

A highlight of the competition is the prestigious Harry Butler Award, presented to one finalist every year in memory of the eminent conservationist and his dedication to raising awareness about natural history and environmental conservation.

More than 1,400 entries from 121 schools across Western Australia were received in this year's Chevron Focus Environment competition.

In 2016, former Chief Scientist for Western Australia, Professor Lyn Beazley, was involved in the competition for the first time with the inaugural Lyn Beazley Encouragement Award recognising students with disabilities or learning difficulties. This category received 45 entries from 16 different schools.

The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students in Western Australia and runs from May to September every year.
