2016 marks ten years since Scitech, with Chevron Australia’s support, trialled Beyond the Beaker, a dynamic initiative highlighting pathways to STEM careers for high school students. Beyond the Beaker has since inspired more than 100,000 secondary students by encouraging STEM career pathways and generating a passion for science and problem-solving.

Since 2006, Chevron has also worked with Scitech to develop other innovative science education programs including the teacher mentoring program and Aboriginal education program.

One of our employees joined WA Premier Colin Barnett, far right, with Scitech staff at a Chevron sponsored event.

Scitech's Primary Teacher Support and Secondary Teacher Mentoring - Connects primary and secondary school teachers in the Pilbara, enhancing their approach to and supporting the delivery of innovative and engaging science programs in the classroom.

Retaining high-quality, capable and confident educators in regional Western Australia, is key to increasing the student uptake of STEM related subjects and potentially pursuing careers in those areas.

Scitech's Beyond the Beaker - Delivers inspirational presentations to high school students across Western Australia, encouraging them to study STEM subjects.

Scitech's Aboriginal Education Program – Increasing engagement in science education among Aboriginal students in remote Western Australian communities. To overcome geographical, cultural and socio-economic barriers, Scitech educators travel to remote locations to engage children in STEM education.

Scitech aims to visit every Aboriginal community in Western Australia every two to three years and has engaged with more than 6,500 Aboriginal students and their teachers since the program started.
