Chevron Australia is proud of the relationships we have built over more than 50 years of exploration and production in Western Australia.
During that time, we have worked closely with communities where we operate - investing in programs that support human capacity, particularly in the areas of health, education and training.
Touching Lives in Meaningful Ways
Chevron Australia already is an active community partner in the Pilbara. We support a number of community programs that reach out to the Karratha, Onslow and Exmouth communities – and are pleased these initiatives are touching the lives of people there in meaningful ways.
We work closely with community reference groups in Onslow and Karratha. Each group includes community members and representatives of local shires and businesses.
Chevron has committed approximately $200 million to social infrastructure projects in Onslow, including upgrades to power and health services, and expansion of school and childcare facilities and emergency services. We will also upgrade Onslow facilities including the Onslow Airport, a recreation and aquatic centre, and a picnic area and playground.
Chevron also reached agreement with the Thalanyji People, who hold Native Title in the Onslow area, and this has driven a range of new education, employment and business opportunities and long-term sustainable benefits for their community.
This spirit of partnership with local communities will continue as we develop our Wheatstone natural gas and LNG project.
