Protecting and maintaining Barrow Island’s fauna remains a key focus for Gorgon, especially as activity picks up on Barrow Island. For us, it is important to build on the more than 45 years of successful custodianship of Barrow
Island.

We are committed to demonstrating that we are protecting the environment and the native fauna on the island. We are working in the animals’backyard and need to be aware of how our actions can impact them. Safety is not just about us.

Protection measures implemented during high levels of activity include reducing the number of light vehicles on the road by using extra buses, installing warning signs, reducing speed limits on roads near construction areas and ensuring our workforce completes driver awareness training.

Other measures include, trapping and relocating fauna prior to clearing, establishing fauna exclusion fencing and regularly inspecting all trenches and significant excavations.

We are committed to continuing to educate those on the island about what they can do to protect fauna and the surrounding environment.
