The Gorgon Joint Venture has already committed around $15 billion to Australian goods, services and labour; and Western Australian engineering firms continue to demonstrate their international competitiveness by securing complex infrastructure and fabrication work for the $43 billion project.
Hundreds of businesses across a range of industries have benefited from project work since construction started in late 2009.
The Gorgon Joint Venture is delivering work to local workshops, construction companies and specialist engineering firms through both direct contracts and work flowing from key project contractors - creating thousands of jobs in the process. These jobs are spread right through the metropolitan area of Perth – including the Kwinana area - in the Pilbara at Dampier and on Barrow Island and across Australia. It is this ‘flow on effect’ that cannot be underestimated.

WA company awarded $90 million Gorgon Project contract
Chevron Australia has awarded a $90 million contract to WA company Hertel Modern for work on the Gorgon Project. The Malaga-based company will deliver Paint, Insulation and Fireproofing Services on the Gorgon Project.
The contract is expected to create around 200 local jobs, including 20 trainee positions, with jobs based on Barrow Island, Malaga and the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson.
The Malaga facility, one of the largest sheet metal fabrication facilities in WA, will cut and prepare most of the materials for installation on equipment and modules at the Henderson base and then complete final installation and interconnections on site at Barrow Island.
