Chevron Searches for Young Environmental Photographers
PERTH, Western Australia, 2 June 2010 – Budding young photographers are being encouraged to enter Chevron Australia’s annual photographic competition, Focus Environment.
The competition, now in its 8th year, is open to Western Australian primary and secondary school students and is aimed at educating young people about protecting and managing the environment. There are three subject categories for entries:
1. Nature’s Mood: Encourages images that reflect the vastness of Western Australia that could capture the elements of sun, wind, water and fire and how they impact on our environment.
2. Animal and plant habitat: Encourages reflections of the living environment and how important these habitats are to protecting Western Australia’s rich biodiversity.
3. People and the Environment: Focuses on Western Australians who are involved in minimising their impact on the natural environment such as planting water wise gardens, recycling projects or planting vegetation to stop beach dune erosion.
The competition is open to all public and private primary and secondary school students across Western Australia. There are three age sections in the competition: Years 4-7, Years 8-10 and Years 11-12.
The 2010 competition closes on 9 August 2010. More information and entry to the competition is available at www.chevronaustralia.com.
