What is the FOCUS Environment photographic and caption competition?
FOCUS Environment is an environmental photographic and caption competition conducted by Chevron Australia.

It provides you with the opportunity to upload photos and captions that best show Western Australia’s unique natural environment for your chance to win prizes for yourself and your school.

In total, there is more than $30,000 worth of prizes on offer to WA school students and their schools.

Who can enter?
Entrants must be Western Australian students in years four to 12. 

If there are any people in the photo, you must have their permission before you submit the entry.

Entrants MUST inform their parents or guardians of their intention to enter the competition and have their permission BEFORE entering.

When does the 2011 FOCUS Environment Competition Open?
The 2011 competion is now open.  Entries close on 25 July 2011.

What are the prizes?
First and second prize winners are awarded cash for themselves and their schools.

Every prize winner - first, second place and commended - will be invited to attend the Awards Presentation at Scitech.

How many times can I enter?
You can enter up to two times in each subject category. 

How do people enter?
People can enter FOCUS Environment by submitting a photo image into the on-line system,  completing their details, agreeing to the terms and conditions and then clicking the “submit” button.

Entry into the competition is FREE. Entry can only be made via the on-line entry process. 

Entries will be accepted via the on-line form.

How do I know that you have received my entry?
If you have provided an email address, you will receive an email acknowledging that we have received your entry.

Sometimes it takes a little time for your entry to be processed via the on-line system. It can take up to 10 minutes before you receive an email acknowledging your entry has been received.

I’m a country student, what if I win?
Assistance with travel and accommodation arrangements and costs will be offered to first prize winners from regional areas and one accompanying adult so they can attend the Awards Presentation.

Regrettably, we cannot contribute to such costs for second prize winning students or students with commended entries. They will, however, be made very welcome at the Awards Presentation, should they wish to attend.

I home school my children, can they still enter?
Yes they can.  However, you will be ineligible for the school prize should they win.

Can I enter the competition if I am a student but do not live in Western Australia?
No. The competition is restricted to WA entries only.

Can I enter an image incorporating plants or animals that aren’t native to Western Australia?
No. Submitted photographs can only include plants and animals that are native to Western Australia. The only exception is if the image is specifically designed to highlight the impact of non-endemic plants and animals.

Can my caption be part of a famous quote or poem?
No. Only an entrant's own, original words can be submitted.
