Community Spirit Grants - 2011 Applications Now Closed

Chevron Australia is committed to contributing to local communities in which it operates. The annual grants are part of that commitment.

As part of the grants program, money is awarded across four focus areas -

- Families and Children

- Volunteers

What Will Happen If My Application Is Successful?

You will be sent a funding agreement which sets out the terms of the grant. This states that you will use the funding for the purpose that you proposed in your grant application. You will need to sign this funding agreement and return it to Chevron Australia. Upon receiving this, we will issue your organisation with a cheque for the grant amount.

If My Application Is Successful, When Will I Receive Funding?

Funding will usually be made available to you within two weeks of Chevron Australia receiving a signed funding agreement from your organisation.

Are There Proposals That Won’t Be Supported?

The following types of grants are outside the scope of the Chevron Community Spirit Grants:

  • Any activity which does not occur in Exmouth, Onslow, Karratha, Dampier or Roebourne and is not of direct benefit to these communities.
  • Projects that require funding greater than $5,000 where the applicant cannot demonstrate that this funding has been or can be secured.
  • Grants to religious groups or their affiliates, whose primary objective is the dissemination, promotion or ministry of a religion, regardless of denomination.
  • Overseas, intrastate and interstate travel and tours.
  • Requests for travel or study support, except in the case where travel may be required to ensure a project can be delivered within the community.
  • Sporting activities that do not encourage physical activity.
  • Purchase of vehicles.
  • Ongoing operating costs including the purchase of office equipment including laptops, desktop computers, scanners and photocopiers.
  • Retrospective project costs for capital works.
  • Assistance for individuals, including medical and study costs.
  • Profit making.
  • Fundraising projects (including charity dinners, golf days, journal advertising and fundraising events).

Our Organisation Has Previously Received a Chevron Community Spirit Grant, Are We Eligible For Another in the future?

Yes, provided that you have acquitted your grant with Chevron Australia prior to submitting your application for a new grant.

A final acquittal formed part of your funding agreement and was required to be provided eight weeks from completion of the project. Evidence must be provided that the funds were expended in accordance with your grant application and can be provided through a report, copies of receipts, photos or any other information that will indicate appropriate expenditure of funds.

Can Organisations Apply For Multiple Grants?

Yes, there’s no limit on the number of applications you can make. However, there are limited funds available and grants will be assessed against the grant criteria to choose those that can demonstrate greatest benefit to the local community.

I’m Not Sure If Our Project Is Eligible. How Do I Find Out More?

Please phone Chevron Australia to discuss your project’s eligibility on (08) 9485 5873 or email spirit@chevron.com
