Planning for Australia’s Energy Future
At Chevron Australia, we utilise our global resources and more than 130 years of experience in the energy business to provide the energy that drives human progress.
Coupled with our determination and ingenuity, we are meeting today’s complex energy challenges.
We hold petroleum titles to resources located offshore Western Australia and onshore at Barrow Island. We are currently undertaking the biggest ever exploration program to support our growth plans in Australia.
The Gorgon Project – our liquefied natural gas (LNG) and domestic gas joint venture located on Barrow Island – will help stimulate economic growth and generate energy security for Australia for many decades to come.
We also are developing our interest in the Wheatstone Project – a major LNG and domestic gas facility to be located at a site near Onslow in the Pilbara region.
And for more than 45 years, we have been producing oil on Barrow Island. We also have facilities on Thevenard Island.
Partnering to Meet the World’s Energy Needs
Chevron holds an equal one-sixth interest in the North West Shelf Venture where, along with the other participants, we have been providing domestic gas to Western Australia for 25 years and LNG to Asian customers for more than 20 years.
Developing Energy for the Future
The world’s demand for energy is increasing, with global consumption projected to increase by about 45 percent by 2030 to sustain improved standards of living.
Globally, we are devising new and better ways to deliver oil and gas – and emerging energy sources.
Significantly, Australia also is the location of one of Chevron's four global exploration programs.
Natural Gas – Providing an Efficient, Economical Energy Source
Our location in Australia also means that we’re well positioned to meet the world’s escalating demand for natural gas and we have our own Gas Marketing and Commercialization team working from Perth, Western Australia, in the same time zone as much of South East Asia.
The Chevron Way
But no matter what the project or focus area, there is one constant thread to everything we do – our commitment to working The Chevron Way.
At the heart of The Chevron Way is our vision to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance.
